My Story
In the last year cancer has taken the lives of 167,000 people here in the UK, that’s an average of 460 every day. Even if we are lucky enough to not be directly affected by it, you can almost guarantee that we know someone, either family or friends, that are or have been. Your generous donation will go directly to the professionals at Cancer Research UK to continue their tireless work to help to find a cure and give more people the chance to live longer lives free of pain and worry. So what is the event all about? As the name suggests, it’s a one day challenge on the longest day of the year where a team of foolhardy, middle aged motorcyclists will attempt to ride from Lands End to John O’Groats in 24 hours. Nearly 1000 miles battling discomfort, breakdowns, fatigue and midges. To add insult to injury our motorcycles are to cost no more than £600 and we must cover the distance without using any motorways! For me it represents a combination of a madcap adventure, midlife crisis and a righteous cause, all crammed into 24 hours! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my page and to consider donating, we all appreciate that currently money is tight but even the price of a high street coffee will help this amazing cause.
