My Story
Update Friday 26th March Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous donations towards Cancer Research, it truly means a lot to us. As you may know, our race which was due to take place this Sunday has been understandably cancelled. However, Rhian and I are still committed to running a Half Marathon, but instead of in London, it will take place on our usual training route of around the Downs. We are unsure when we will be able to do this, but hope it will be as soon things get back to some degree of normality. Until then, we are keeping up the training; Rhian’s training forms part of her allocated daily exercise and I am stomping on the treadmill at home! We are both committed to fulfilling our aim of running a Half for Cancer Research and also as a thank you for all of your generous donations. We will keep you posted! Until then, keep safe. Lindsey and Rhian xx We will be running the London Landmarks half marathon on Sunday March 29th this year. Having run the London marathon in 2013, Rhian was the obvious choice to become my trainer for the Newark half marathon in 2017. We also both trained together for the Bath half marathon in 2018, which was sadly cancelled because of the snow! For both events, our target was to simply finish with a good time. In that way, it was simply a personal target. This time, we would like to raise money for a cause close to our hearts and are running in support of Cancer Research UK. In 2011 Rhian lost her auntie to cancer, and in 2013 I lost my mum to cancer after ten years of fighting. Whilst we have both experienced the loss of a loved one, we are now also mindful of friends of our generation who are fighting cancer. This has spurred us both on to do something worthwhile and running seemed the obvious choice! We have been training since September 2019. Rhian is a dab hand at running spreadsheets, running times, the timing of energy gels, watching the weather and getting me up Ladies Mile! Meanwhile I am a dab hand at keeping an eye on Lexi the dog who is training with us and chatting far more than I should be! We would be really grateful for any contributions towards Cancer Research UK, however big or small. Your donation will go directly towards helping those who are currently fighting cancer. Many thanks to you all! Lindsey and Rhian xx
