My Story

My mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the end of 2016 and is currently going through treatments. It is something I haven't really spoken about and not many people know, it was just upsetting to speak about because you just don't think it can happen to you or someone close to you. BUT the C word doesn't scare me anymore. After seeing what ordeal my mum has gone through, she is so brave and is such an inspiration. Cancer can affect anyone at anytime and it sure hit us like a tonne of bricks when we all found out. The one thing I can truly say is that the support from Macmillian and other cancer charities, nurses, chemo units etc. has been amazing. My family and I have seen the difference these charities can do, we have experienced their patience, 24hr services and care. I shall be running race for life in Aberystwyth to raise money for Cancer Research as a whole because someone may find a cure one day. I will be running with a group of friends supporting me. My mum will be at the finish line proud and showing her fighting spirit. 5K is nothing compared to the pain, injections, emotional and physical turmoil my mother and many others experience. Mum I am doing this for you and auntie Julie. Donations really do make a difference, I can tell you from our own experience.
