In memory of
Hannah and Beth
8th May 1979 - 30th Apr 2000
In January 2016 I met Alex, we hit it off immediately. I enjoy going to the gym and keeping fit (mainly to offset my second passion of baking and eating cake!). He asked me to help him get fitter and to go running with him. Well i didn't realise what a challenge i had undertaken- apparently i am too enthusiastic and chirpy when running and he doesn't seem to like my motivational techniques!! We then discovered Parkrun and have enjoyed going each week both at home and if away for a weekend, Alex even goes when i am at work. We have undertaken a couple of 10km races but wanted the next level challenge and so decided to try the Great South Run. Neither of us have run this far before and this is going to be a hard challenge. So why cancer research- As you will all know my sister Hannah died in 2000 from malignant melanoma. She was the most amazing young lady and i miss her as much today as i did then. Cancer cut her life short and deprived us of the fun loving, easy going caring person that she was. Last year a really special lady to me Beth Roach also died from cancer. She was a fantastic mother and grandmother and i feel so privileged to have known her. Someone who cared so much about those she knew and took an interest in their lives. She was an inspirational Christian lady with such a love and heart for Jesus. I have known many others die from cancer and i see its affects on a weekly basis in my job. Cancer is cruel and does not discriminate, it takes what it wants and does not care who it affects. let us now make sure we take part in the fight against it. The NHS is stretched more than it can manage and struggles to give the treatments that we so wish to give so it is down to us to hep fund the vital research that can help to fight against it. Please help us by donating and give us the motivation to keep going when its hard and we think we cant go any further all whilst raising money for a great cause. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
