My Story
It was April 3 years ago that we lost my grandad, Horace Lee, to cancer. Unusually, he had breast cancer which I would like to raise awareness about. You don’t often hear of men getting breast cancer but it is a thing so all you chaps need to cop a feel of your own boobs!!! It wasn’t breast cancer that carried him off, it was pancreatic cancer that took him in the end and it was as fast and furious as his personality. Any of you who knew him would understand he was a force to be reckoned with and had a wonderful and hilariously unique personality that we miss so much every day. He was just shy of 88 so you could say he had a ‘good innings’ but he wasn’t ready. He loved life and hadn’t done with it so in our eyes he left the party early. Cancer is happening right now and it’s rubbish. This is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. Anyone who knows me, knows I’m not an athlete but I’m determined to do this and I’ve just finished ‘Couch25K’ so I’m going to smash it!! Horace isn’t the only person in our lives that cancer has effected, cousins and aunties, uncles and friends, young and old. Some are still here to tell their tales and others live on in our hearts. For all their sakes and our own, let’s give cancer a kick up the Jacksie and raise some money! Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Rebecca x
