Anyone who knows me well will know that my mum was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in August last year. The last 12 months have been horrendous for my family and despite all that she has faced cancer head on with dignity and grace. She has completed chemotherapy with a smile whilst remaining supportive for everyone else through their issues without ever asking for anything in return. She has even been walking 4 miles a day to and from her radiotherapy sessions this month in her own bid to walk all over cancer! https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/liz-walks-all-over-cancer-35 I honestly don't know anyone else in my life who could have sustained the strength she has shown through what she has tackled. Even now, she continues to put everyone else first despite having every excuse to be the selfish one for a change. So I am running for Mum, because she is the bravest person I know and I want her to know she is not fighting this alone. I am running for Granny, because she has faced and fought the same both herself and by losing her sister. I am running for Granddad, because he had to fight a rare and inoperable oesophagus cancer despite having the healthiest lifestyle I know. I am running because no one deserves to go through what they have and do. I am running to say thank you for the treatments that are already there and the advances that have given some a second chance. I am running because I believe there is a cure for the ones who weren’t so lucky. I am running because I really hope that together, we can finally beat cancer.
