Our grandad getting prostate cancer inspired us to do this this year we want to show him how much he means to us by raising money and doing this race. And also for my dad who beat skin cancer
Cancer is happening right now, which is why me and my 9 year old daughter Rubi are taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. Our grandad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015 this was a big shock to our family as he is our rock and the person I look up to and always have all my life and all the other kids do he spent months travelling backwards and forwards to Sheffield hospital to have treatment. In 2018 my grandad had a check up and they have his prostate cancer under control which was a massive relief for him and us. This is why me and rubi want to do the race for life as we have always been proud of him so we want him to be proud of us. Also for my dad who I am so proud of as he beat skin cancer having to have a skin graft from the inside of his leg put on to his shoulder where his skin cancer was it gave him a lot of pain and he lives with the scar but he did it and kicked cancers butt. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
