My Story
Cancer is happening to us, right now. But by the 23rd June - Race for Life, Edinburgh - Keith will have finally finished treatment for his Head & Neck cancer and will be on the mend again. His cancer was aggressive and treatment has been gruelling, yet it's pretty advanced. 15 years ago they couldn't have told us exactly what his cancer was or how to treat it perfectly, which is why Cancer Research UK is truly life saving. Dr Dev, his consultant, Fiona, his lead nurse, and the rest of the A.M.A.Z.I.N.G team at the Western General are doing everything they can to cure and care for Keith. But with more research treatments will get better, take less time, have softer side effects. Right now treatment will still almost kill you before it cures you. The side effects are tough and some are life-lasting. For Keith and I this is everything from tooth care to fertility, sunscreen to scarring. BUT HE IS CURABLE! And if he can blitz chemo, radio, side effects, a barrage of drugs and surgical issues then I can run 10k (*surely...?!*). I'm taking part in Race for Life 10k to raise money. To save Keith's life, the lives of the friends and neighbours he's met on ward, and anyone else impacted by this dreadful disease. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
