My Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit "Rebecca's Buy a Bigger Bucket Run" fundraising page which involves Adrian & Diana running the Amsterdam Half Marathon on 21 October 2018 in aid of Cancer Research. At the aged of 39 Rebecca (Bok) was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her reaction was (after a brief tear) "What do we need to do to get this sorted and where do we start". There followed a tough nine months of chemo, surgery and radiotherapy which eventually resulted in a return to normal life. So back to the gym it was and back to running, completing the Cancer Research London Winter 10k run in a very respectable time of 56 minutes and raising over £1500. Unfortunately the "uninvited guest" was to return and now Rebecca faces another long hard fight to evict the intruder. Of course there is fear and trepidation as she ventures into the unknown but this has been met with the same optimistic, strong, positive approach, typical of the way Rebecca lives her life. Rebecca is one of the most inspirational people that I have ever had the privilege to call my friend. Her outlook is to "live life to the full, don't let an opportunity pass you by and if you see somebody in the street smiling then smile back at them, enjoy it, embrace it'. When not living life to the full, or buying a bigger bucket, Rebecca is getting in touch with her Ommmmm! Her positive outlook is uplifting, highlighted by her views on her forthcoming treatment, namely "One more step closer to nailing this thing, so bring it on, and when its all over again, we'll celebrate in the only way I know how - by grabbing life by the balls and living every second TO THE MAX". Of course Rebecca is not alone, each and every one of us will know someone who has been affected by cancer and Rebecca would be the first to sign up to fundraise for Cancer Research UK if she were able, so we are running the Amsterdam Half Marathon on her behalf. Please kindly donate to this page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers will be curable. In Rebecca's words "The sun is shining and I am still smiling, hope you guys are too". This Fundraising Page is also in loving memory of Diana's Father, Anthony (Tony) Webb who passed away from cancer last month. He is greatly missed by all. Thank you again, Adrian & Diana
