My Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I’m taking on Dryathlon and ditching the drink for one month to raise money for life-saving cancer research. As you may already know our eldest son Robert, has recently been diagnosed with cancer, again!! Aged 5 he fought this disease and won. 20 years on he is having to fight for a second time. When your child is unwell or injured your immediate reaction, as a parent is to make them better. You wash the wound, apply a plaster. Or give Calpol to ease the pain. It's totally different with a cancer diagnosis. The majority of care is taken away from the parent and you rely solely on the knowledge and expertise of a medical team. All you can do is be there to love and support them the best way that you can while they go through the nightmare. Without the remarkable work Cancer Research UK continue to do, the life saving treatment Robert is currently receiving wouldn't be available to him. So my husband Richard (he has his own separate fundraising page) and I, will be abstaining from alcohol for the month of October to show our support to this incredible charity. This small gesture we are making could a make a massive difference to the charity with your very kind donation. Thank you so much :-)
