My Story

In 2019, My Dad, Bobby, received devastating news that he had bladder cancer. He was immediately operated on and his chemotherapy treatment followed shortly afterwards, every 6 weeks. This was a tough ordeal and after each treatment the would be bed ridden for days. My Dad’s news was not only a shock as my dad is a fit and healthy 68 year old who attends the gym daily but news that no matter your age, you never ever want to hear. Then the pandemic struck, my Dad was given the toughest decision of his life - continue treatment in hospital and risk catching covid or decline treatment and the cancer return/spread. My Dad, a very brave man and ever the optimist continued with his treatment during lockdown, whilst having the constant threat of catching covid at hospital! My Dad fought back at cancer and Thankfully beat it this year, despite the constant challenges and suffering. My Dad was then given further news this year that his prostate psa levels had increased and once scans and investigations were complete, this showed a nodule on his prostate. Although Thankfully this is benign he has to attend regular check ups to monitor it. Each time the worry and stress taking it’s toll on him. My Dad has always remained positive throughout this horrendous journey and continues to do so with every check up, scan, operation, investigation, treatment and IT constantly being at the back of his mind I’m sure. He’s a fighter and a true inspiration and therefore, I am running this 5k in dedication to him! He is amazing, we are all really proud of him and in Ore of how he battles on and shows determination, never giving up, the Power of positivity and mental strength! Your a Legend Dad & I Love you very very much! Xx 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, this is a very frightening statistic but it’s true and therefore, by donating will make a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now xxx
