Rachel's Race for Life
Derby 5k 2020
Sun 11 Oct 2020 - Sun 11 Oct 2020
When my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year it really caught us off guard, this was the year that she has planned to take off work with her son, not her cancer treatment year. She has already had surgery, and is mid-way through her chemo, with radiotherapy planned too - by the time we run she should have completed her treatment. It's a gruelling regime, but one designed to giver her the best chance of being cancer free. I'm so glad that research has got us to this point but hope that in the future treatments will be kinder and even more effective. My son has decided to run the 5k Race for Life out of solidarity - he doesn't enjoy running, but appreciates that she doesn't enjoy having cancer either! Together with our friends we hope to raise money for cancer research on 28th June and hope that you will support us if you can.
