In memory of
Dad (Bob Purnell)
As you may be aware, I lost my lovely Dad to cancer in July 2012 at the age of 65. Dad was diagnosed with a carcinoma of the tissue in his lower back in December 2011 and chemo started shortly afterwards. The carcinoma was inoperable due to where the tumour was in relation to his liver and kidneys. Following six rounds of chemo, Dad's health deteriorated rapidly and he passed away peacefully with the family. To raise funds and help motivate myself to stay on my health and fitness journey, I've decided to run the 5k race for life with my sister Sara. I would never class myself as a runner, I really don't enjoy it and prefer to break my runs up with muddy obstacles, so I am not looking forward to this challenge. Any donations will really spur me on and do great work for Cancer Research. Although this is my story, I know we are not alone and many people including our friends have similar tales to tell. One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Many thanks and lots of love Rachel xx
