Gina Peach

My Story

Cancer research has been the centre of my fundraising for over 17-years starting when we tragically lost my cousin Tracie at just 32 years of age. I have since witnessed many families and friends touched by this disease with many recovering aided by the amazing treatment available but equally and sadly, we have lost loved ones too. In 2019 one of my oldest and dearest friends Gina was taken way too early by cancer after an extremely short battle. I cannot put into words what her decades of friendship meant to me but there will forever be a Gina shaped void in my life and all who knew and loved her. When her eldest son Jake told me he had promised his mum that he would run a marathon for her, I knew what I had to do and that was to help him achieve his promise. Then Jakes younger brother Morgan also signed up so together we are running the London marathon in her memory. Sadly Covid thwarted our plans of competing together in April 21 so Morgan completed London in Oct 2021 and Jake and I are set to run this October. Collectively we are striving to raise £30,000 in Gina's name. I have striven to push myself to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. To find challenges that are real challenges, from running marathons to climbing mountains in Africa, trekking trails in South America, sky diving and cycling across France with the odd ice-bath challenge thrown-in during Lockdown. Together, we have raised a whopping £125,000. On 6th November 2021 I completed Everest in the Lakes challenge, treking the height of Everest between me and my buddy in two grueling days of rain and 70 mph winds, raising a fabulous £3,577.45 towards our goal. With your support together we can and will make a difference. Thank you, Rachel xx
