My Story
So, why Cancer Research UK - the easy answer is why not! We all have loved ones whether it’s family, friends or colleagues battling, surviving or have sadly lost their fight against cancer. We all know the facts and figures however, it doesn’t make it more acceptable. To help, I aim to raise at least £4k which is the cost to put a cancer patient on a clinical trial. My father was diagnosed with prostrate cancer back in 2014 and while tragically he lost his fight on 31 May 2020, I believe the clinical trial he was placed on not only gave us more time together to create those ever so precious family memories but importantly gave him a better quality of life for longer too. It is my wish for everyone battling cancer to have the benefit of being offered a clinical trial and therefore every opportunity to survive and live a full life. These trials may be life changing or at the very least provide more time to create lifelong memories. I will be running the London marathon this October in memory of my fabulous father and also for the much loved but never forgotten Brian Young. Not only a great friend of ours but also mentor, and business partner to my husband. Brian was a true gent with a mischievous twinkle in his eye who loved life. He sadly died of pancreatic cancer back on 6 December 2018. I hope you will support me by helping raise this amount to help research and those battling each day with this awful disease. Together, let’s make cancer yesterday’s problem.
