My Story
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my story ❤ In 2007, one of my favourite people in the entire world passed away from breast cancer. My maa maa Wong Ching, was the kindest, strongest and one of the best people I have ever had the honour of knowing. She had the cutest smile and always made food for everyone (just like most grandmas!). She had a little afro (imagine that - a little Chinese grandma with an afro!). I guaranteed you would have loved her, just like I did. My po po, Soo Yin Phuah, was also diagnosed with cancer a few years back. But thankfully, this year, she kicked cancers butt to the ground and is now cancer free! However, without the work of charities and organisations like Cancer Research UK, I would have lost both my grandmas to cancer. I thank my lucky stars every single day that my po po is still with us. Unfortunately most people will know someone affected by cancer as 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. My four best friends (Tarina, Jenny, Louise and Ruby) and I are taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to hopefully raise some money and save lives. We are taking part not only for our loved ones but for everyone and anyone whose lives have been affected and turned upside down by cancer. We are doing this for you. We are here for you, we support you and we love you. Every single pound donated makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please if you can, sponsor us now - every little does really help. If you would also like to come to watch and support us (or even laugh at us getting very muddy and falling over) please also feel free to - we would absolutely love it (and definitely need it!). Thank you so much ❤❤ Lots of love, Rachel
