My Story
Almost three years ago my best friend Haley was diagnosed with Stage 4 cervical cancer, she battled her cancer through rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and surgery. In December, another close friend Ashleigh was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma and has recently received the news that her treatment is working and she is winning the fight against cancer, keep going Ashleigh everyone is behind you. 💓 Both of these incredible women had just given birth to their beautiful baby girls just months before their diagnosis- I can’t begin to imagine how it must be to juggle having a new born and going through treatment. You are both so inspirational in the courage, bravery and strength you have. Working as an Oncology/Cancer Care Pharmacist I’ve experienced a part in both sides of the journey with cancer- being a member of the patient’s family, seeing that close friend go through treatment to being a part of a team reviewing patients who are living with cancer and trying to get the very best from their treatment. Donations for research, treatments and other types of supportive care can go a long way. Although current treatments have not been stopped directly by COVID, GP referrals have dropped and vital cancer trials have been delayed. We need to help fund researchers to discover ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer more effectively- the Race for Life is more important than ever! This is why I'll be taking part in the Race for Life at Home. Any donations would be greatly appreciated 💓💓
