Race For Life - Banu's first 5k

Hello all! I've posted a fair bit on Facebook these last months and I think most people know what the last few months have been like for me: I started my new job as Respiratory Consultant right as COVID-19 hit the UK full-force. We've all been through the stresses of lockdown together, and I've had my share of personal losses. Coupled with the intensity of what was happening at work and elsewhere it really has been a shit few months. So I managed it by running. Couch to 5k (not 5 cakes, though did consider!). And now I'm nearly there, I wanted to give back to something worthwhie. Most people know I'm a doctor, fewer know I'm also a Cancer researcher (still plodding away at that PhD...). With the devastation brought by COVID-19, the collateral has unavoidably been the management and research into other diseases. As a CRUK Clinical Fellow, funding enabled me to take my lung cancer research project to fruition, an opportunity I would not have had otherwise. The impact of COVID-19 on Cancer Research is devastating - good projects, potentially life saving work has had its funding cut. I know times are tough right now for many and may be tougher yet, but anything you can spare is appreciated. Thank you so much!
