My Story
Due to my recent run in with Cancer I decided to set up a page where Pro-Am Tour Members can help the continued efforts to beat what now effects 1 in 2 of us. From my personal experience the one thing that screams out to me is early detection. I had no idea I had a tumour growing in my kidney. It made it to Stage 3 which means it breached the organ before I knew anything about it. This means my chances of survival beyond 5 years statistically are slightly better than the flip of a coin, but many factors are in my favour as I'm 15 years younger than when you would expect to be at risk. Being detected in Stages 1 & 2 the prognoses is significantly better. There are some very deadly cancers called 'silent killers' this is one. From conversations with the Cancer research team the area of early detection is very much underfunded. We are great at treating cancer just not so good at finding it in the first instance. The money raised will go specifically to this area.
