My Story
2 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare type of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. This is a rare form of cancer, which only affects around 4 in 1 million people. For this reason, there is a severe lack of research in this area. Lymphoma 1 - 0 Preeshy Yes I cried like a baby not knowing what to expect. My mind was playing games with me. With the help of my hero, my family & my close friends I reassured myself that I was lucky not to be on my own. The team at Guys & St Thomas were amazing & gave me all the support and treatment I needed. I started treatment within 2 weeks of my prognosis. Lymphoma 1 - 1 Preeshy My treatment lasted over 1 year which resulted in a big improvement reducing coverage of 20% to 8%. Behind the scene of each Cancer survivor is a team of unsung heroes, doctors, nurses and researchers. On day 1 at Guy’s and St Thomas I was introduced to Mrs S, my Clinical Nurse Specialist. Little did I know about her role but she was there for a reason. I can only describe this amazing lady as my navigator who always goes out of her way to get all the support I need from medical, psychological as well as on an emotional level. I wish I could call her Mrs Sunshine as every time I see her she always brightens up my day =). So here I am running the 10K on the 23rd July with an aim to raise funds for Cancer Research, without the funds there's no research and without research there's no HOPE for me and others out there who believe we can end this WAR with Cancer. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
