My Story

I am taking on the 310 Pull-Ups Challenge this August to raise £1085 for Cancer Research UK - that's £3.50 per pull-up! My amazing dad is 90 years old and has terminal cancer. At the end of last year he was gardening, playing golf 3x a week with his friends, and training twice a week with me at the gym, but in January he was diagnosed with cancer and although he's still staying as active as possible, he needs a lot more rest, and it's becoming harder to do the things he loves... 💔 Aerial changed my life, and I got my first pull-up - something I never imagined I'd be able to do - in my mid-40s, so this challenge seemed like the perfect way to use that strength to raise some much needed money for cancer research. It will also help me keep my strength up while I'm supporting my mum and dad, when I know that finding the time and energy for my own training will become increasingly difficult. Earlier this year I got 10 pull-ups in a row for the first time, though I've not been doing much training recently and already quite out of condition compared to earlier this year... Dad has always supported and believed in me, whatever I have done, and was there cheering me on at my first aerial student showcase performance. He is hoping to make it to his 91st birthday in October, and although the doctors tell us that is far from certain, if anyone can make it, he can! 💪 For Dad there is no suitable treatment available, so we are focusing on making the most of the time we have left with him. By raising funds for cancer research, I hope to help change that for others in the future.
