My Story
Cancer has been a scary but prevalent part of my life. I recently had stage 3 cancerous cells removed from my cervix and luckily now have the all clear. But Both my parents have had cancer and both very nearly lost their lives. My Mum when she was just 13 got a rare form of Cancer which is affected her for her whole life. My Dad got cancer in his early 50’s and survived it but in his late 60’s had a severe stroke, leaving him disabled and brain damaged. However, thanks to the incredible research, treatment, doctors and nurses we have in the UK, both my parents have managed to beat the dreaded illness. Sadly, two of my Grandparents have died of Cancer and many people I know have had it. It’s very prevalant in my family and everyone’s lives. Those that know me, will know that running is definitely not my strong point, in fact it’s my weakness but I am signing up to do this run because I want to raise money for cancer research and help to do my bit. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
