My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This January I’m taking on Dryathlon and raising money for Cancer Research UK by ditching the drink for one month and fundraising for life-saving research. Please support me by sponsoring me. Every single one of us is affected by that word, Cancer. A small insignificant 6 letter word, by massive in how devastating it can be. We've all lost friends and family, neighbours, and people we've never even met. My giving up the booze for a month is a small sacrifice to pay, but it's my way of helping to raise some money along with showing my support. I'm doing this in memory of my mum who was taken by cancer. I'm doing this for my friend Jordan who in January 2018 was taken by cancer. And my friend Mrs Porter who is very much still around having this year beat cancer. Jordan's memory is still very vivid and he is dearly missed, his mother's heart is shattered and as I write this I've begun to cry and I can't see with tears . Jordan was the bravest human being I've ever ever met. And his , " it is what it is" saying is used daily. Mrs Porter had a horrendous year. Chemotherapy attacks your whole body and she had dark days , but wrote a daily blog to help others prepare for what lay ahead for those about to go through what she had gone through. Mrs Porter is like that, always thinking of others. Finally , the person I never met. A 45 year old lady taken on Christmas day as her 2 children slept in bed and woke up to no mum.all day Christmas I thought about those children. I thought about Jordan's children and there first Christmas with out there DAD, and I thought about Mrs Porter very much with her 2 children . And as my eyes again begin to fill up I say,' I will raise my blackcurrant and soda throughout January and smile as I think of these people...." it is what it is".
