My Story

Running has become a huge part of my life. Earlier this year I completed the Manchester Marathon, and as an athletics coach I've spent many years helping people set goals, overcome challenges and achieve things they never thought possible. During July, I'm taking on the Run 66 Miles Challenge in support of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK. The challenge gives me a new focus after the marathon while raising money for a cause that means a great deal to me. Through my years of coaching, I've worked with athletes who have faced cancer. I'm fortunate to have seen some make a full recovery and return to doing what they love. Sadly, I've also lost athletes and friends to this terrible disease. Those experiences have shown me just how important the work of Cancer Research UK is and why continued investment in research gives hope to so many families. By completing 66 miles throughout July, I hope to play a small part in helping fund the research that leads to better treatments, earlier diagnoses and more lives being saved. If you're able to support me, no matter how much you can give, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help motivate me through every mile, but more importantly, it will help fund life-saving research. Thank you so much for your kindness, encouragement and support.

CAUSE

Bobby Moore Fund

Bobby Moore was just 51 years old when he died. Shortly after his death in 1993, Bobby’s widow Stephanie Moore OBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund to raise money for pioneering bowel cancer research. Since the fund was set up , bowel cancer mortality rates have fallen by over 30%. However, with 48 people losing their life to the disease every day in the UK, we still have a long way to go.
