My Story
This October I'll be running (trying to anyway) my first half marathon. I've been getting more into it over the last 12 months and now I need to put it to some good use. Watching my Mum live with cancer for 27 years has been the greatest inspiration in my life. It arrived in 1987 when I was 9 and she was 45. She fought it every day with an incredible faith in God and an equally wonderful outlook on life. She never complained, she accepted it and got on with her life. It's been four years since she passed away and we are still learning to live without Mum. And now it's happened again. Just as we thought it had moved on from our lives. My incredible Father-in-law, Mick Henry, recently lost his battle against this vicious disease. Again, he accepted it with incredible strength and was an inspiration to us all in his final weeks. The fragility of life has never been so obvious and why we should all treasure every second that we have. Maybe one day, families will not be destroyed like they are being today. I can't do much. But I can run (sort of!). Helplessness is what has got me to do this today. Wanting to, but not being able to, do anything to help him or my dear Mum. But there are amazing charities out there doing wonderful research to beat this disease. Please support me and help them continue doing what they do best. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m raising money right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose! Please donate to my page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
