My Story
Near the beginning of 2021, my dad was diagnosed with cancer. He’s undergone surgery and he completed six weeks of radiotherapy during July and August. Due to the pandemic restrictions, it's been hard to support Dad through his treatment, so my sister Liz and I want to do what we can by taking on a challenge and raising money for Cancer Research UK. We are each cycling 300 miles during September to raise money to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. I like cycling, but I’ve never done anything like this before, and have never attempted a long-distance ride of more than about 15 miles. I’m expecting a few aches and to feel a bit saddle sore - even with my newly purchased padded cycling shorts! Most people will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives, whether that’s suffering from it themselves or watching a loved one go through it. The disease is indiscriminate, and even those who’ve lived otherwise healthy lives, like my dad, can fall victim. Please give whatever you can, and do follow our updates throughout September as we clock up the miles - and hopefully the fundraising too! Donating through these pages is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
