My Story

I have signed up for the Run 56 Challenge to raise funding for Cancer Research UK. Over the years, cancer has affected so many of my friends and family; I have friends who have recently undergone treatment and friends currently being treated for cancer. My Grandad who was my pal passed away in 1990, my sister recently lost her close friend Dawn, who fought her brave battle with inspiring strength and my Dad's wife Sue tragically passed away last year, all to this horrible and devastating disease. This year is the 10th year anniversary of my father in law, John's passing; who we lost just a few weeks after Fiona and I were married, he fought so hard to be able to walk her proudly down the aisle before the cancer became too invasive for him. The Run 56 challenge involves me running 56 miles / 2 miles a day during the month of February. Whilst this might not be the biggest challenge and I know some of you run this in a week just for the fun of it. However, cancer is relentless, and it picks on people, and this is just my way of getting out and doing something positive to fight back against it on behalf of everyone affected by this disease and in honour of the loved ones we have lost. Any donation to the cause, no matter the amount would be very much appreciated. I have set a target of £150 with the hope that with your support I can exceed this and reach over £200, which would be enough to fund a team of 9 cancer nurses for an hour. If half of my Facebook friends donated £1 we would achieve this target. Please help me to help others in memory of anyone who has lost someone to cancer and to give hope to those going through it now and in the future. Thank-you.
