My Story
CANCER....we all know someone who has suffered with cancer. That someone may even be you!? Maybe the story is a happy one, maybe it is not so happy. In the last year or so my close family has new cancer stories....three of them in total and fortunately, their stories are good ones. What is for certain is that 10 years ago all of their treatments would have been significantly different to the ones they recently received. Advances in cancer care don't just happen...they happen because of research...research which needs funding...funding which comes from charities like Cancer Research UK. This is why I have chosen them for my first fundraising activity. On the 20th May I'll be taking place in a Half Iron Man (1.2 mile Swim - open water, 56 mile Bike, 13 mile Run). Having spent most of my adult life training for rugby and short sharp bursts of energy, turning my body to endurance stuff has been far from a "walk in the park"! But the thought of completing this and raising money for cancer research is what has driven me to get out of bed at 5:30am to train before a 12 hour day at work, hit the turbo trainer at 9pm after the kids are in bed and head out in the driving winter rain to clock up some miles! If you have suffered with cancer or know someone who has then please consider making a small donation to this excellent charity. PT X
