My Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Early last year I spent seven weeks in hospital. Most of that time I was unable to breathe properly without help. This time last year I had just got home and could barely climb the stairs. Getting up to make a cup of tea left me exhausted. I was two thirds of the way through my chemo treatment, having been diagnosed with stage four lymphoma. We all hope we never need cancer treatment. At 35, I had no idea that would be why I was suddenly getting short of breath. But thanks to the support of my family, and the fantastic work of my doctors and nurses, I found out in October that I am in complete remission. I’ve been building my strength back up over the last 12 months. I even managed a 2km junior parkrun with my daughter. But it’s time for a bigger challenge to see how far I’ve come and - more importantly - help give others the best possible chance of hearing those two words I lived for for so many months: complete remission. I have no idea how my body will react to this challenge. But if I can beat cancer, I can manage a few 5km runs, surely. Thanks for reading and, if you’re able, I’d love if you could spare a few quid for an amazing charity doing life saving work.
