My Story

I grew up in England, on the outskirts of London. I remember watching the London Marathon on TV as a kid and thinking what an impossible thing it seemed. I never imagined I'd ever be able to do it. Until...four decades later, having only been running for the last several years, this impossible feat not only seems possible, but I am thrilled at the chance to take part. I am honoured to have been offered this opportunity by Cancer Research UK. In return, I have pledged to raise at least £2000 (approx CA$3500). In my application to the charity, I mentioned various family members who have either died from cancer or are in the midst of treatment, major surgery, scans, and tests. There are also many close friends and acquaintances dealing with various forms of the disease. I will proudly train and push myself to achieve this dream of mine, in their honour. I am especially excited that many of my family in the UK will be able to cheer me on along the course. I would be extremely grateful for any and all donations to this fantastic cause. Whilst they are a UK based charity, their support of research into all forms of cancer is obviously of worldwide benefit. I apologize to my Canadian supporters that your donations are likely not tax deductible. For my UK supporters, I believe there are tax incentives or other government schemes (Gift Aid) that can bring extra value to your donations. Any money donated goes directly to the charity.
