My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer. Help me Walk All Over Cancer and fund life-saving research by making a donation to my page. Over this past year because of the restrictions set by the Covid outbreak I have become very unfit and find myself struggling to hit even 5,000 steps a day or to do any other exercise. I attend a zoom Tai Chi class as often as I can but it is not enough. Before Lockdown I walked several times a week with a couple of local groups and my work was very physical. Lockdown happened and everything stopped including me! Ingrid was one of my fellow walkers and she was a true inspiration. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer then suffering a stroke that she was told she would not recover enough to walk again, Ingrid fought back and proved she was bigger than anything her cancer could throw at her. She walked weekly taking care of everyone who walked with us. She also took part in many sponsored events both walking and running. Ingrid never complained, always smiled and encouraged us to keep going. We sadly lost Ingrid in January. She touched everyone she met with her kindness and compassion and I feel this is my way to say, from myself and enable everyone who met her, 'Thank you for being in our lives'. Ingrid is helping me get back on my feet and my goal is to be fit enough by the end of March to be able to restart our walking groups and get everyone back out there enjoying the open spaces, good company and conversation. As a child I knew my mother supported Cancer Reasearch. She always said there were many cancers out there and you will never know which one might affect you or a friend or family member so better to support research of all cancers common or rare. Another reason to choose Cancer Research to get me out and about. Please sponsor me over March as your encouragement will make me get off my butt and get back to good health and fitness. Thank you Paula
