My Story
Having been diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer at age 37 with no family history, I have found myself in a world no-one wants to be in. It is tough and it is real. I have been overwhelmed with the support I have received from my friends and family. I also was pretty much ignorant as to how many variations there are between cancers and their respective treatments. These treatments only exist because of the people that have gone before and the research that has been carried out. This research is going to help save my life, not something I thought I would be facing at this stage in my life. Cancer does not pick and choose. For anyone who finds themselves there, hearing those words "it's treatable" means everything. Following my chemo, I will be getting round this course with the love and support of my friends and family, before I head into (as a minimum) a non skin sparing mastectomy and lymph node clearance. To be followed by radiotherapy daily for around a month. Please help in whichever way you can to raise money for the vital research, treatment and support. Sadly, it's all too prevelent. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
