My Story

Hey, we are doing race for life! As we all know cancer touches us all either directly or indirectly. Trying to diagnose and treat it sooner is the best way to fight it. We can only do that through better research. When our dear cousin Zoe told us in February this year she had terminal cancer we all were in complete shock. How can someone so healthy be so poorly? Zoe was given only weeks to live, the doctors never thought she would be here to celebrate her brother’s 50th, her own 46th or her son’s 17th birthday but Zo, being the amazingly strong person she is, is still with us today and determined to be with her family for as long as possible. Zoe is more like a sister than a cousin to me (Katie), Beck and Pat. When she met Darren her husband we knew she’d found her soulmate. Darren & Zo have two wonderful children who are also looking after their mum on a daily basis. Please, please, we need to raise much needed funds for further research into diagnosing bowel cancer early and lung cancer. Simon Boyle lost his wife too early to lung cancer 6 years ago (Annette was 35). Their son Joseph is now 14 and is a fantastic lad! Annette was a wonderful wife and incredible mother to Joseph. Sadly, cancer affects all families and so we are united in our fight against it. Beck, Zac, Pat, Millie (my daughter age 11), Simon, Joseph and Fintan (age 11) and I have signed up for race for life... we’ve done absolutely no training and it's only 2 weeks away, so it will be a real challenge.. and when we tire, we’ll think of the strength you have Zo... this is for you Zo & Annette - we love you dearly. If anyone would like to join us for Race for Life please do, for those that don’t, please help us by sponsoring us to run and make a donation today... trust me we’ll need all the help we can get!! Thank you and lots of love from us all xxx
