My Story
I did this walk about 10 years ago with a very dear friend Jenny. Never in a million years did we think that one day we would be walking it for her as she battles Ovarian cancer. We are walking it together, she is determined she will do it and I will be with her every step of the way. I am also taking part in memory of a very dear mother in law, Sheila, who we lost to breast cancer on my youngest son’s third birthday, he is 18 now but it still pains me greatly that she isn’t here, she adored her grandsons and didn’t get to see them grow up, so 6th August each year is particularly difficult, and also for Hayley, yet another dear friend fighting her own battle with breast cancer whilst still trying to keep her business going and looking after two young children. For Doris, mum of a lovely colleague and in the throes of her fight, her daughter Zena at her side always. For young Archie who at only 5 yrs old has battled twice in his young life and I will think of the bell he rang on completion of his treatment as I reach 10k, a noise we all long to hear for our loved ones. Also for Fiona and Michael both sadly recently lost and for Lisa, got on with it, survived it and very much still with us and loving life and long may it continue. All of these people are a true inspiration to me and will be very much in my heart and mind with every step I take.
