Paige's Veg Pledge
In memory of
Michael
4th Jun 1939 - 6th Dec 2004
Thank you for visiting my Cancer Research UK Veg Pledge page. This November, I will be going vegan for Cancer Research UK. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. This is for my grampy who had brain cancer and died when I was 8. Lost in photographs and drawings as a stick man with a halo in xmas cards. I remember clearly finishing school and seeing my suitcase in the trunk, which meant we were going away. Also when my siblings and i were told off by my head teacher for missing out on school for visiting grampy hundreds of miles away over a period of months in different hospitals. I never actually knew he had cancer, I just thought he was very sick but would get better, and that the doctors knew what they were doing. Ballet twirls in the ward...flicking through old picture books that I knew I was too old for...watching the zzz lines on the tv... Back in the car. Rinse. Repeat. Until 6th December 2004. 'When are we seeing grampy?' All the missed opportunities I could have spent with him, if only he knew what his grandchildren had achieved. Any money I save this month from not spending on any animal produce I will donate myself. What your money goes to: *A fiver can pay for lab chemicals. *A tenner to replace microscope bulbs. *Fifty buys a scientific sieve to sesperate bits of DNA to reveal vital clues to beat cancer. I'm also taking this pledge in recognition of how wasteful we are with food and it's impact on our environment. I started switching to sustainable fish during the summer when I also took on plastic-free july challenge. Now I want to see if I can turn strictly vegan for a month. Wish me luck & please donate! 😊
