2019 Simplyhealth Great North Run

Sun 8 Sep 2019 - Sun 8 Sep 2019

My Story

In September 2019, I am running the Great North Run for the first time to raise money for Cancer Research. I don't really have a story to tell. I am just like many others who's life has been affected by cancer in some shape or form. I have had family, friends and colleagues who have battled and conquered it, but some I have never even had the chance to meet because they lost their fight. In the UK, every 2 minutes, someone is diagnosed with cancer. It is easy to to just sit back and think that this will not be us or someone we love. However the work done by Cancer Research UK has meant over the last 40 years, survival rates have doubled and they are the only charity to fund research into all 200 types of cancer. They are improving the lives of those with cancer every day, and our donations are helping them do this and possibly more in the future. I am just like many others who want to make a difference, no matter how small. Please help me in my little fight against cancer because small things can go a long way! (Just like I’m hoping my little legs will get me across that finish line) Ottavia xo

CAUSE

All Cancer Types

Our work has helped double cancer survival in the UK in the last 50 years. Despite this incredible progress, there’s more to be done. Nearly 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. Help us carry out world-class research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer.
