My Story
My lovely family friend Sarah was diagnosed with a very rare cancer called myeloma, in the summer of 2022. Late last year she made the difficult and brave decision to undergo a bone marrow transplant. The treatment involves completely destroying one's immune system before the transplant. This leaves you very open to infection. Ultimately her heart couldn’t cope any longer with the combination of myeloma and infection. During this treatment, Sarah was hospitalised. She ran a blog with weekly updates, and was still able to stay positive and crack a joke every now and then. During lockdown Sarah would host Zoom dances where people of all ages could enjoy themselves. She even hosted a ‘Kitchen Disco via Zoom earlier this year before starting her more intensive treatment. It is acts like these that make me proud to have known her. It was a terrible shock to hear that she was no longer with us, she will be sorely missed. Sarah was full of life and was taken from us too soon. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m raising money right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose! Donate to my page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
