My Story
Welcome! Thank you for visiting my fundraising page :) So, In March I’ll be walking all over Cancer, 10000 steps a day, every day. Its been 15 years pretty much since I watched the news with the administration of HPV vaccine which was fresh in England. I remember it well, my Great Auntie asked me to go to the shop and fetch her a donut and a Guinness. We discussed the benefits of this vaccine and our family’s history with various cancer, Liver, Breast, Osteosarcoma etc. Cancer is very apparent, prominent and feels almost imminent to both our history and future. It was harrowing but a much needed insight. We didn’t know that Cancer shortly after that would take her life. The very cancer we were discussing, she had and it was terminal. That was the last I ever saw of her. Now irony has it that I went for my routine cervical smear and in November 2020 the results came back positive for the HPV virus. The screening for the virus is a precursor to potential changes in cells, so basically abnormalities which can be cancerous cells are a slight probability in the future. However, it is also probable that my body clears the virus by itself. I’m doing this to aid future research, I’m doing it for the friends and family who’ve had scares, who’ve fought and lost and those who’ve fought and won. I love walking, I’ve been lacking in steps due to circumstances so I am ready to take this challenge on, reap the rewards and raise money and awareness in the process. And ladies before I wrap it up, Please, please, please go and get your blooming smear done! I’m aiming to raise and exceed my target just purely because I’m going to step all over Cancer before Cancer steps over me.
