Nikki's Race for Life

After watching my sister get through the past fourteen months, I thought it might be inappropriate to dwell on the negative things that have happened to her, but equally ludicrous to pen something light-hearted and optimistic, ignoring the purpose of the run altogether. In all honesty, seeing someone I love try to cope with life-changing effects of having ovarian cancer was incredibly difficult. Trying to find the right words to comfort her about something I knew very little about was almost impossible. A lack of knowledge and life-experience can easily make a person feel powerless in these circumstances. And that is why I will be running. Although I may not be able to truly understand how my sister feels, or to help those still going through their own battles, I am able to support those who can. Together, my sister, mum, friends and I will be running through mud and tackling obstacles in a bid to support Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.
