In memory of
Mark Edwards & John Dickens.
10 years ago our lives changed forever, Mark lost his battle with cancer. It was a just a few months between the terminal diagnosis and losing him. In those few months we did everything we could to create our last happy memories with him. Mark was my step-father, he left behind a wife, 2 children and 2 step children. That shouldn’t have happened to someone his age. In 2013 our lives were again turned upside down after a cancer diagnosis in June for my Grandad. Shortly after he spent 8 weeks in hospital where he frequently talked about his ‘little angel’ (my eldest daughter Lily-Rose). He eventually came home to have palliative care, we let Lily-Rose see him for the last time and he lost his battle 1 week before his 75th birthday. He suffered enormously towards the end. We have very fond memories of both Mark and Grandad John, however cancer also created some harrowing memories for us. We don’t want other families to go through what we have. My Mum and me have taken part in the Cancer Research Race for Life every year since we lost Mark. Over the years we have added extra names to our back signs as more and more members of our family and friends have been affected by cancer. We want change, and we have realised that it might take a bigger challenge this time. Taking part in the Shine Walk means we can choose which area of research we’d like our donations to go to. Please sponsor us, a full marathon is a huge event for us and we want to raise as much money as we possibly can. We will never give up this fight. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
CAUSE
Bowel cancer
Over the past 40 years there's been dramatic progress in tackling bowel cancer and half of people diagnosed will now survive for at least 10 years. But with bowel cancer still claiming around 43 lives each day, more research still needs to be done. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.
