My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer. As most of you know my mum was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2013. She was already stage 4. 4 years of gruelling treatments, trial treatments, weekly trips to the amazing Royal Marsden hospital she sadly became terminal at the beginning of 2018. Finally ending her battle (I refuse to say lose because she fought so furiously) in July 2018. Without cancer research funding trial treatments at the Royal Marsden Hospital we would have lost her 2/3 years sooner than we did. Because of cancer research I got to have my mother at my wedding in 2017. Because of cancer research we got 2/3 extra Christmas’ with her. They didn’t save her life but they for sure prolonged it and gave us extra years to make memories. The pain of losing mum will never ever go away, but I hope we can pull together and raise some money so other families get to prolong, or even save their lives. Since losing mum my depression has spiralled, i spend most days in bed or in a blanket. I sleep a lot to numb to pain. I also eat my feelings. In 2.5 years I’ve gained around 50lb. I don’t exercise, I don’t have the want to do anything let alone go for walks. This 10k a day will be a huge challenge for me, physically and mentally. So any support, even if it’s just a share will be appreciated immensely.
