My Story
A challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK, for motorcyclists on cheap and inappropriate motorcycles to ride from Land’s End to John O'Groats in 24hrs on the longest day of the year. Bikes must have been bought for no more than £600! So that’s the challenge explained in a nutshell. Friends will know I have done this challenge quite a few times now and can tell you that in its 10 years running the event has single handedly raised over £450,000:00 for cancer research !!! AMAZING’ What would be lovely is to be part of the event that takes the total to over half a million pounds. Not bad for an annual bunch of bikers on extremely unsuitable bikes backed by superb organisers and volunteers along the way. It’s really not easy, even if your bike doesn’t miss a beat it’s a gruelling challenge. The route is set and there’s no motorways it’s all A and B roads. There’s pit stops on way where we can check in, fix the bikes if needed plus hydrate. Just under 1000 miles in 24hrs on a bike takes its toll not to mention 2 x rush hours, roadworks, road closures and any bike worries along the way. Oh, getting lost is easy when your tired too! So please please donate if you can. Every little helps. We all know someone who’s fighting cancer and also lost friends, loved ones and work colleagues. My bike is a bitsa. One we have built up from many spares obtained by building Suzuki SRAD race bikes. It’s very much in the spirit of the event, not the best looking but hopefully we can get it reliable. Please watch the YouTube video and subscribe to get regular updates on the prep for the event. Thanks for reading . Nige
