My Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Every day in March I'm walking 10,000 steps for my nana, who we said goodbye to in December last year. My nana was my role model, she was kind-hearted, curious, and brave. Everywhere I look I see her in the lessons she taught me and the stories she told. Over the four years my nana was treated for lung cancer, she had an amazing Oncology team at Lancaster, and was on a number of different treatments. I don't know the ins and outs of the medical science, but I do know that every day Cancer Research are working, they are closer to finding kinder and more effective treatments. When she was first ill, I remember thinking how can these treatments be so cruel! How can something that's supposed to save you make you so unwell... yet when the chemo shrunk the growth and the dose was lowered, and then later when we moved onto another medicine, it meant my nana could enjoy her life again. She was given 3 months to live when they found the tumor in her lung. Here I am over four years later to say thank you to Cancer Research for the extra time I got to spend with my hero. I'm walking for my nana, but I'm also walking for all the future cancer sufferers and their families, in the hope that someone else can have their loved one for a little longer, and that they can suffer less along the way. Thank you x
