My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer. My husband Allan was diagnosed with melanoma in 2015 & sadly went stage 4 terminal in January 2018. He was only given 2 years tops. We were offered the chance of trial drugs which worked initially but soon became too toxic to carry on with, so he was taken off the trial as it was making him so ill. After loads of surgery & loads of drugs, we passed the 'Use by date' in January this year and Allan is still here, refusing to give in & we look at every day as a new start. He has his bad days when he is totally washed out, but he always says that you need the bad days to really appreciate the good ones. It is people like cancer UK that have pushed the fight forward against cancer that made the trial drugs that Allan had, possible. Although the drugs didn't gel with Allan, they are certainly helping others & it is hoped that there might soon be a trial for people with melanoma at stage 3 to prevent them becoming terminal altogether. I would like to thank each & every one that makes a donation, as you are making it possible for the many people in our position to have a longer, happier time together with the ones we love so much.
