My Story
The Pink Unicorns will be taking part in race for life 2020. Our team consists of Nicola Higgins, Christine Morris, Abbie Morris and our two beautiful shetlands Isobel and Vera. We will complete the 5k as a walk around Rainford with the ponies in hand on Sunday 20th September. We will be in fancy dress and of course the ponies will be in fancy dress too! Nicola will also do a 5k run on 25th September. Meet the team... Nicola Higgins I am a 31 year old mum of one. I have a busy active lifestyle and like to keep fit between family life and horses being both my work and hobbie. Vera is my two year old daughter's pony, we've had her for almost a year now. My daughter and Vera have lots of fun together around the yard and going on rides. My mum has taken part in race for life for the past four years but unfortunately this year she is unable to so myself and Vera will be taking her place. I will run the 5k on 25th September as well as the shetlands 5k walk out on 20th September. Christine Morris I turned 50 this year and I like to keep fit and active hacking out my horse Milo. I spend my days looking after him and Isobel ( my daughters Shetland ) . I lost my brother and my Dad to cancer so this cause is very important to me and my family. Abbie Morris I am a 17 years old musical theatre student in Liverpool and with that comes a massive amount of commitment with full on weeks. Isobel ,my pony, is my perfect down time, when I first met her she was very nervous but now we have become best friends and she puts a smile on my face every single time I see her. I am doing this 5k in honour of my grandad who died of cancer when I was 7 years old, even though I didn’t get to spend much time with him he was still able to have a big impact on my life and he lives on in our memories. Vera Vera is an 11 year old, 43 inches tall, standard shetland mare. Her colour is chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. Vera absolutly loves fuss and attention especially from children. Vera is looking forward to taking part in her first race for life with her best friend Isobel. Isobel Isobel is a 13 year old miniature shetland mare. Her colour is mouse dun with a black dorsal stripe down her back. Isobel was a rescue pony so she can sometimes be a bit shy and nervous still. With the help of her owners Christine and Abbie she has learnt to trust humans again and her confidence is growing all the time. Isobel loves to dress up so this race for life is right up her street. After a year where vital cancer trials have been delayed, the Race for Life is more important than ever. That's why I'll be taking part in a Very 2020 Race for Life. Every pound you can donate will go towards Cancer Research UK’s ground-breaking work, so please sponsor me today!
