My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in this years race for life In memory of my amazing dad,my absolute hero who I miss more than words can even explain ..January 24th 2018 my dad got in from work felt unwell and had a massive 4 hour long seizure out of the blue,he had no symptoms that he was unwell...we went to our local hospital were he had scans and days later we were told the devastating life changing news that he had a stage 4 brain tumour , he was transferred to Salford hospital where he had an operation but they could get to all the tumour, he then had to endure gruelling radiotherapy at Christie's 5 days a week for 6 weeks which really took a lot out of him...he then caught infection after infection and was in hospital quite a lot, doctors never really managed to get the seizures under control and he had quite a lot of these seizures daily, his immune system was non existent he caught every infection,he lost the ability to eat and drink properly also, was horrible to watch him deteriorate daily he suffered so much but never once complained all the way through .. he eventually got a place at Wigan and leigh hospice were he just got more and more poorly daily so it was just a case of keeping him comfortable... my amazing dad passed away in October 2018 surrounded by his family in the hospice ... it was such a hard year for me and all the family watching such a strong gentle giant of a man ,a very happy go lucky family man who was always smiling and having a laugh become so so poorly and go through this....I miss my dad so so much it kills me everyday when I think of him or a memory pops up on my phone...I miss the daily phone calls from him..I miss him more than anyone could ever imagine ... my dad, my hero, my inspiration xxxx
