In memory of
Emma Bailey
Willo and I feel very strongly about our charity day because well, everybody we know including ourselves know of friends and family that have died from cancer. Here's a little about a very strong minded and young lady called Emma and my Mummy. A friend of my husband and I told us one day last year that his beloved wife was yet again battling this demoralising disease, cancer for the 5th time. Emma was such a battler but it was to much this time round and very sadly passed away earlier this year. Because my husband, Willo, had worked with John (Emma's husband), he said to me not long after Emma's death that we should arrange for John's old team mates from Afc Bournemouth to come over to our local club (New Milton Football Club) and raise as much money as we can for cancer research. So, we have managed to get nearly all John's team mates from the Wembley team 1998. Luckily, this includes Premiership manage Eddie Howe. He has very kindly said that he will play And bring his backroom staff. We can't thank him enough. Unfortunately Willo and I have lost one of our parents to cancer. Willo's Mum died many years ago and he doesn't want me to talk about it on here. I can fully understand his wishes. My Mum died back in 1986. She was 45 years old! No age at all. My goodness she fought so hard for about 16 months, but one night my Dad woke me up to say my Mum had to go to hospital. I had to get up and I'm pretty sure we travelled with her in the ambulance. (I was 13 years old so my memory isn't that great, but I've also blocked a lot out from that time in my life. Weirdly, I wish I hadn't now). My Mummy died around 21 hours later. I'm sure my Dad, brother and I would have had the amazing help that's out there today. If we would of had that help, I would probably have ways to stop myself crying right now. God I miss her so much. Although there is nothing we can do about it, we often wonder especially whilst arranging our charity day, if things would be different today. We strongly believe yes things would be different. The way things have move on and the tremendous work cancer research does, there is no doubt in our minds. John has now expressed his wishes for a portion of the money raised on the day (not from this donation page), to go to Oakhaven in Lymington Hampshire. They helped and cared for the whole Bailey family. Nothing was ever to much for them.
