My Story

In February what I expected to be a routine tonsillectomy came back as cancerous. It really came out of nowhere, and overnight turned our lives upside down. All plans for birthdays and holidays went pretty much out of the window - the whole future suddenly felt completely on hold and uncertain. When my wife found the Shine Night Walk, the family all signed up right away; but I was told I would need to undergo radiation therapy, and maybe even chemotherapy, so I expected it not to be possible. Amazingly after two further surgeries I've been given the all clear and won't need any further treatments (just months of throat recovery, and 5 years of continued monitoring - fingers crossed), so I'm able to join in on the walk too.
