Shine London 2018 - Half Marathon

Sat 22 Sep 2018

I'm walking at Shine Night Walk in the fight to beat ovarian cancer.

In memory of

My Mum, who I miss I every day

7th Sep 1943 - 23rd Feb 2018

My Story

From as far as I can remember my mum was a fighter, she had a great passion and determination for life and she adored her family. Family was everything and so was the love of my dad and both my sister and I. Mum had a rare form of humour mixed with sarcasm which kept us all on our toes and we never knew sometimes whether she has teasing or serious. She was also happy to share her opinion whether you wanted it or not! She adored being a grandmother to Ben and Daisy and spending time with them - sharing her stories and watching shows she had recorded specially for them. No matter what, she always made time and cuddles were especially important, especially if you were a nana. Over the past few years I watched my mum change and little did we know at the time this was due to cancer. Mum never knew about her illness until a few days before she passed away - she was not ready to leave us all and there is not a day that goes by that I don't miss her nagging in my ear or my sharing a mad idea that everyone else thinks is crazy but she understands. I lost my best friend as well as my mum and by doing the Shine Night Walk I hope to help raise funds to support future research into Ovarian Cancer. We need to do what we can to protect our children. Please help support me and in doing so, protecting our future generations.

CAUSE

Ovarian cancer

Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer in UK women, with more than 130 women every week told that they have the disease. It is often not diagnosed until it has spread, making it harder to treat. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to detect ovarian cancer earlier and find better treatments.
