Nat & Rach's Race for Life

After being friends for 25 years we have decided we want to do something together and create some good memories, complete a massive challenge together, whilst also trying to make a difference. We have friends who have fought cancer bravely, but unfortunately nothing could be done, we've had family members who have fought it and survived and also family members who have died. Watching somebody suffer with cancer is horrible and as a family member or a friend, it is the worst thing in the world to witness and one of the most difficult times in a patient or their families' lives. We have taken part in raising funds for Breast Cancer UK before, raising £600 and also taking part in an awareness event so we have seen first hand how passionate the charity is about the work they do. We are not runners, and training for this is proving a challenge but we are determined to do it and here is why...in the 1970s fewer than 25% of cancer sufferers survived, that figure is now 50% and Cancer Research has the ambition to make that statistic 75% survival rate by 2034...so we live in hope that that's 25% more survivors and 25% more families being kept together. They cannot do this without the funds for the research and whilst we can't raise it all we can help or if we raise £20 Cancer Research can run Cancer Chat for an hour helping people during the most difficult points in their lives and £108 funds a day's trial to help find better treatments for childhood brain cancer. If we can make anybody's life easier who is suffering from cancer, or anybody who is supporting a cancer patient, we will be really pleased. Everybody knows somebody whose life has been touched by cancer, be it that they have been diagnosed at some point in their lives or seen a loved one suffer. The more money we raise the more families we can hopefully keep together so anything you can spare will be much appreciated, 50p, £1, we appreciate for many money is tight (including us), it all adds up, thank you all so much xxx
